Welcome to Rewild My Garden: Bringing Wildlife Back to Your Backyard

It all begins with an idea.

Imagine stepping into your garden and spotting a rainbow bee-eater swooping overhead, a flutter of butterflies dancing among native flowers, and a tiny frog hiding under the leaves. That’s the magic and we are here to help you create it.

At Rewild My Garden, we believe every backyard can be a vibrant haven for wildlife, no matter the size. Our mission is simple: reconnect people with nature while supporting local ecosystems. By planting local native plants and designing gardens with biodiversity in mind, you can bring birds, bees, butterflies, lizards , and other incredible wildlife right to your doorstep.

Meet the Biodiversity Boxes

We’ve made it easy, and fun to rewild your garden with our Biodiversity Boxes. Each box contains six carefully selected native plants, chosen to attract specific wildlife like bees, birds, or butterflies.

Here’s what makes them special:

  • Wildlife-friendly: Plants are local to SEQ and have been selected for benefiting multiple taxa e.g.. birds, insects, reptiles, mammals.

  • Themed and collectible: Each box has a theme- our core range attracts certain species and each month we will release a limited edition box with a new theme, collect them all and build your own biodiverse garden!

  • Rewarding: Plant your boxes and watch your garden thrive, track changes over time and feel like you are part of a community/ movement. Plus, our loyalty program gives you a free gift when you collect 6 boxes.

Think of it as a little adventure in your backyard. Plant, watch, and learn as your garden transforms into a thriving wildlife habitat.

Why Native Plants Matter

1. They are perfectly adapted to your area

Local plants have evolved over thousands of years to survive the climate, soil, and seasonal changes within your local area. That means they generally need less water, fertilizer, and care than exotic plants, making them easier to grow and maintain.

2. They provide the right food and habitat for wildlife

Local wildlife have co-evolved with native plants. Some pollinators or birds rely exclusively on certain native plants for food or breeding. Exotic plants often don’t provide the same nectar, seeds, or shelter.

3. They support biodiversity

By planting local species, you’re helping to maintain healthy ecosystems. More native plants → more insects → more birds → more reptiles/frogs→ more mammals → a thriving, balanced garden. Exotic plants can sometimes disrupt this balance.

4. They help the environment

Local plants help prevent soil erosion, improve water retention, and reduce the need for chemicals. They fit naturally into your ecosystem, supporting soil microbes and local water cycles.

5. They protect threatened species

Some native plants are rare or under threat. Growing them in your garden helps create small refuges for these species and the wildlife that depends on them.

In short: Local plants are the foundation of a resilient, thriving garden ecosystem. Exotic or imported plants might look pretty, but they rarely provide the same ecological benefits. Planting native species is the most effective way to make your backyard a real haven for wildlife.
