Limited Edition Wallum / Heath Rewilding Box – January Project
🌿 Wallum & Coastal Heath Biodiversity Box
Bring one of South East Queensland’s rarest and most biodiverse ecosystems back to life
Once, Wallum and Coastal Heath covered much of the sandy lowlands from Moreton Bay up through the Sunshine Coast — a vast, living landscape of wildflowers, banksias, grasses, orchids, and low shrubs buzzing with life.
It wasn’t empty country. It was one of Australia’s most diverse coastal ecosystems.
Today, much of it has been cleared, fragmented, or replaced — but the plants still exist. And when you bring them back into your garden, even in a small patch, the wildlife remembers.
This box helps you recreate a pocket of that original landscape — right where you are.
🐦🦋 What you’ll see return
• Native bees and pollinators moving between wildflowers
• Butterflies using nectar plants and host plants for life cycles
• Birds feeding on seeds, berries, and insects
• Frogs and lizards sheltering in dense groundcover
• Seasonal bursts of colour just like natural coastal heathland
• A garden that feels wild, alive, and naturally balanced
This is not ornamental gardening — it’s ecosystem rebuilding.
🌿 Why this ecosystem matters
Wallum and Coastal Heath are:
• One of SEQ’s most unique native ecosystems
• Extremely high in biodiversity for its size
• Naturally adapted to sandy, low-nutrient soils
• Home to specialist plants and wildlife found nowhere else
These plants evolved together — and they work best together.
When planted as a system, they:
• Support pollinators year-round
• Create food webs for birds and insects
• Build shelter for reptiles and ground-dwelling species
• Restore ecological relationships lost in urban gardens
🌱 Designed for real SEQ conditions
Perfect for:
• Sandy coastal soils
• Low-nutrient gardens
• Full sun to part shade
• Pots, raised beds, and garden patches
• Coastal suburbs and inland sandy pockets
No fertilisers needed — these plants are built for survival, not feeding.
🪴 What’s included
• 4, 6, 8 or 12 sun-hardened SEQ native tubestock plants
• A curated mix of Wallum & Coastal Heath species selected for biodiversity function
• QR-coded + printed plant care & planting guide
– Seasonal tracking
– Wildlife observation log
– Simple planting success guide
• Refillable nature journal system to track your ecosystem over time
🌏 Rewilding impact
Every Wallum plant you add is part of something much bigger.
You are helping:
• Rebuild a fragmented ecosystem across SEQ
• Restore food pathways for pollinators and birds
• Reconnect wildlife corridors from Moreton Bay to the Sunshine Coast
• Bring back one of Australia’s most unique coastal landscapes — plant by plant
Even a small patch becomes a stepping stone of ancient habitat.
🪴 Collector Binder (optional, $10)
Store your plant cards, wildlife notes, and seasonal observations.
Build a living record of your Wallum patch as it changes, grows, and attracts wildlife — a simple way to see ecosystem restoration happening in real time.
🌿 Who it’s for
• Coastal gardeners and nature strip rewilders
• People on sandy or low-nutrient soils
• Wildlife lovers wanting something more authentic than ornamental planting
• Beginners wanting a simple, ready-made ecosystem
• Anyone wanting to bring “real bush” back into their garden
